Israeli military forces carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon in the early hours of Saturday, killing one person, injuring seven and hitting a highway connecting Beirut with southern regions of the country, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said.
According to the Israeli army, the attack targeted a location that stored machines to be used in rebuilding the infrastructure of the Hezbollah group, with whom a US-brokered ceasefire is in effect, even though Israel is carrying out almost daily air strikes. Israelis accuse Hezbollah of trying to rebuild itself after heavy losses during the conflict.

The most recent war between Israel and Hezbollah killed more than 4,000 people in Lebanon, including hundreds of civilians, and caused an estimated $11 billion in destruction, according to the World Bank. In Israel, 127 people died, including 80 soldiers.
The war began when Hezbollah began firing rockets across the border on October 8, 2023, the day after the Hamas-led incursion into southern Israel triggered the war in Gaza. Israel responded with bombings and airstrikes in Lebanon, and the two sides escalated a conflict that became a war in late September 2024.
