The Funchal Cathedral tower is now open to the public. For four euros, you can climb the 160 steps and have a panoramic view over the city and the port.
The door is open to anyone who wants to pay and whoever has the stamina to climb the 160 steps that lead to the bell tower of Funchal Cathedral.
While funds are being sought for works and restoration, the doors are open to those who come for mass, for photographs or who want to climb the tower and have another perspective on the city.
The church was built by D.Manuel I. Today, it continues to be the center of Madeiran religious life.
