The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) embarks this Saturday (11) for Romein Italy, where he participates in the World Food Foruman event promoted by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations).
According to Itamaraty, Lula will participate in the opening ceremony and, subsequently, will participate in the in-person meeting of the Council of Champions of the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty.
The Chief Executive will also be at the inauguration of the space where the support mechanisms of the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty will operate, before returning to Brazil, still on Monday (13).
The Alliance was established as a proposal from the Brazilian G20 presidency to support and accelerate efforts to eradicate hunger and poverty while, at the same time, reducing inequalities.
On the trip, the president must meet with Pope Leo XIV.

Upon return, discussions with the economic team are on the agenda regarding the issue involving the defeat of the IOF (Financial Operations Tax) provisional measure.

Lula also faces the choice of a name to occupy the STF (Supreme Federal Court), given the announcement of the retirement of minister Luís Roberto Barroso.
