Natural sweetener can help treat baldness

Natural sweetener can be applied to needles used to treat hair loss, new study suggests.

A stevia – the natural sweetener – can help reinforce the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, better known as hair loss.

This is how a new published in Advanced Healthcare Materials this month.

The medicine minoxidil – the active ingredient in Rogaine – is the standard treatment for this problem, but there is after all a natural element that can help it take effect more effectively.

Evidence suggests that the Micronedling – a minimally invasive procedure that uses fine needles to create small holes in the top layer of skin – can stimulate hair growth and increase the absorption of minoxidil.

And the steviosidea natural sweetener derived from the Stevia plant, if used as delivery mechanism of these needlesit can even make the treatment more effective.

The study was carried out on rats. After 35 days, mice treated with the dissolvable patch showed hair regrowth in more than 67% of the treatment area, compared to just 25% in the control group, where mice received standard minoxidil.

“Using stevioside to enhance the delivery of minoxidil represents a promising step towards more effective and natural treatments for hair loss, which could benefit millions of people around the world,” study co-author Lifeng Kang, a researcher at the University of Sydney, Australia, told .

The treatment for hair loss may even be in nature. This study is in line with that carried out this summer, which suggests that a gel made from natural sugar can even help in the treatment of baldness.
