This Friday (10/10) the police discovered two more drinks, one in Hortolândia and another in Tatuí, both in the interior of São Paulo, amid operations launched after .
The Hortolândia factory operated on Rua Elizete Cardoso, in Jardim São Bento, a location discovered after an anonymous complaint about irregular production there. A 27-year-old man was arrested.
Military Police agents found 1,258 bottles full of different brands of drinks in the warehouse, in addition to 8,800 empty bottles, 5,000 caps, 36 rolls of labels, 200 seals with import seals, 16 gallons of essence and dozens of containers containing a substance similar to alcohol. Equipment used in filling and closing the bottles was also seized, as well as a cell phone belonging to the suspect.
The man was charged with forgery, corruption, adulteration or alteration of a product intended for therapeutic or medicinal purposes, in addition to a crime against consumer relations.
The location was examined by the Criminalistics Institute, which collected samples to verify the composition and authenticity of the drinks.

Also on Friday, a 42-year-old man responsible for a clandestine beverage factory in the center of Tatuí was arrested. According to the police, the scheme involved the participation of a 17-year-old teenager, hired to assist in the adulteration and packaging of distilled beverages for resale.
The location was discovered after a tip. The teenager authorized the agents to enter and stated that he worked there, helping with the packaging and handling of drinks. According to the government, the factory had poor sanitary conditions and contained full and empty bottles, barrels of liquids, chemical substances used in adulteration and materials used in cockfighting. The person responsible for the place confessed to the practice, but stated that it was an “artisan production”.
Police officers found more than 800 empty bottles and 210 liters of distilled spirits stored in 50 and 20 liter gallons. Also collected were 38 bottles of alcoholic beverages, 1,771 lids, 1,252 wooden corks, labels, dyes and pigments, a notebook, two cell phones and paraphernalia related to cockfighting.
The man was arrested in the act and the teenager was released to respond to the case before the Children and Youth Court. The case was registered at the Tatuí Police Station for the crimes of forgery, corruption, adulteration or alteration of a product intended for therapeutic or medicinal purposes, corruption of minors and animal abuse.
Operations
The arrests occur amid a series of actions by the crisis office created by the Government of São Paulo to combat methanol contamination in beverages. Installed on September 30, the group brings together the departments of Health, Public Security, Finance, Justice, Economic Development and Communication, in addition to municipal health surveillance. Among the measures are the banning of suspicious establishments and the collection of bottles for laboratory analysis.
