The four members of the last solidarity flotilla to Gaza arrive in Madrid: "one of the hardest trips" of their lives

The four activists of the last Gaza solidarity flotilla have arrived at the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas airport. Among them is the representative of Más Madrid, Jimena González. In statements to the media upon his arrival, and as reported by the newspaper The Countrythey have said that it has been “one of the hardest trips” of their lives and have denounced the “gross conditions” suffered in Israeli prisons. Another of the activists has said that they will continue trying to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza with new flotillas, encouraging governments to break relations of all kinds with Israel.

The Minister of Health, Monica Garciareceived the activists in the arrivals hall of the airport. In front of the media who were at the scene, he assured that they had not been able to contact them, but that some other members of the Flotilla had denounced “mistreatment, aggression and humiliation because what Israel does is flagrantly ignore all international legality in the face of the impassiveness of the international community.”

The spokesperson for Más Madrid in the Assembly, Manuela Bergerothas also attended the arrival of the members of this second flotilla and proudly showed the “triumph” of the flotillas “in continuing to denounce the genocide in Gaza by a government that continues to break international legality.” Likewise, he has requested that the announcement of peace is “lasting and fair” for Palestineas well as that the international community respects the “political rights” of these people.

For his part, the spokesperson for the Madrid team, Eduardo Rubiñohas celebrated the arrival of the activists on his social networks, especially that of his colleague Jimena González. “A great joy to receive you after these long hours, with practically no news,” he added in his message, which is accompanied by a video in which the members of the Flotilla can be seen hugging their loved ones.

Jimena González and María Teresa Arancón were traveling aboard the initiative’s sailboats Thousand Madleenswhile María Plata Díaz and Yacine Belkaid Ayari were on board the Consciencea former ferry chartered by Rumbo a Gaza. “It has surely been one of the hardest trips of our lives, that its culmination has been the grotesque conditions that we have suffered in Zionist prisons,” Yacine Belkaid has also expressed to the media.

All the boats were intercepted by the Israeli Army at dawn on Wednesday in international waters and taken to the port of Ashdod. From there, the 145 members of the flotilla were transferred to the Ktziot prison.located in the Negev desert.
