A decision by the House benefited a single attorney, ensuring that he receives extra compensation of R$139,000.
The recipient is attorney René Luiz Moda, the only one mentioned in a decree dated September 30th that extended the deadline for him to retire by one year. His role is to defend and represent the Assembly in legal matters, acting as a kind of lawyer for the House.
At Alesp since 1997, he receives R$46,300 per month, the maximum for public service.
Alesp currently has 18 attorneys, with another four vacant positions.
The House offered compensation of six salaries to prosecutors who had submitted retirement requirements by September 30 of this year.
From December this year, Moda will also be entitled to a bonus leave of three salaries, totaling R$139 thousand. Thus, with the extension of the term, he will be able to receive this amount and will then be entitled to the other six salaries, equivalent to R$278 thousand, when he retires.

In a note, the Assembly denies that it extended the compensation period just so that the attorney could also receive the premium license.
The House says that his stay is necessary due to the difficulty in filling the four vacant positions, even with a competition underway since June 2023.
“This is a professional with extensive experience in carrying out his duties, which, in meeting the needs of the service, required him to stay for another year, especially given the functional framework described above”, says the note.
The competition approved 21 candidates, and 16 attorneys were appointed. Alesp, however, says that only three remained in the House. Those who have not yet been called have already taken office at the AGU (Attorney General of the Únião) and at the municipal prosecutor’s offices of São Paulo and Florianópolis.
