President Claudia Sheinbaum’s government was managing a response plan to support 139 affected cities.

Photos published by the Mexican military showed people being pulled out by soldiers using lifeboats, houses flooded with mud and rescuers walking through city streets through waist-high waters.

“We continue to pay attention to the emergency in Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí, in coordination with the governors, as well as several federal authorities. The National Emergency Committee is in permanent session,” said Sheinbaum on X.
