The release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza faces a crucial juncture, with conflicting expectations about the exact timeline of the operation. International experts and authorities present different predictions for the completion of the process.
In an interview with Now CNNAna Carolina Marson, professor of International Relations, assesses that Hamas should: “This is because the population of Gaza has already suffered enough. And if this is not done, Israel will resume the attacks.”
Concern about spectacularization
A critical point of the process is the need to avoid any type of spectacularization during the release of the hostages. In previous episodes, there were controversial situations involving public presentations of captives, something that Israel expressly requested not to be repeated.
The expert emphasizes that any attempt to transform the liberation into a propagandistic event is complicated, and neither side. “I think that if Hamas follows this line again, this could be seen by Israel as a provocation, a confrontation”, warns Marson. “And it is in the group’s interest to end the war, this conflict.”
According to the teacher, the expectation is for a discreet and cautious operation to receive the hostages. The priority is to ensure a smooth process that does not compromise the ceasefire agreement established between the parties.
