On the banks of the river, thousands of people followed the meeting in silence, with prayers, applause and tears. The act symbolizes the reunion between mother and child and represents the most symbolic point of the celebration, uniting faith, emotion and tradition in the same gesture.
The rector of Nossa Senhora de Nazaré Cathedral, Father Manoel Costa, highlighted the spiritual significance of the moment.
“We are crowning months of preparation with a gesture of love and hope. The Círio is a living expression of the faith that moves the people of Rio Branco”, he stated.
After the meeting, the faithful continue in procession to the Nossa Senhora de Nazaré Cathedral, lighting the streets of the city center with candles, songs and promises.
