O Industrial Business Confidence Index (Icei) rose one point in October, to 47.2 points. With this, entrepreneurs in the sector completed 10 months of pessimismaccording to a survey released by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) this Monday, 13.

The survey is carried out monthly. For this edition, 1,164 companies were consulted (458 small; 444 medium-sized; and 262 large), between the 1st and 7th of October.

According to the Economic Analysis manager at Marcelo Azevedo, is still early to point frame reversal of lack of trust.

He remembers that, despite the rise, the index is almost three points below 50 pointsthe dividing line that separates trust from lack of trust.

The end of the year is usually more favorable for the industry and this is usually reflected in expectations. It is possible that Icei will improve, but not that this lack of confidence that has been present since the beginning of the year will be reversed”, explains Azevedo.

In October, the Expectations Index grew 2.9 pointsthe third consecutive increase. The indicator reached 49.1 points.

The other component of the confidence index, the Current Conditions Index rose 1.3 pointspassing from 41,9 points for 43,2 points.

The level reveals that businesspeople’s prospects for the next six months remain negative, although less pessimistic than in September.
