What about professionalization? President comments on Confederation plans

Having professional referees is the most debated point regarding arbitration in the Brasileirão. According to the rules, judges and assistants must have a source of income independent of the work carried out on the national football fields.

In practice, they are amateurs, used to working in an environment surrounded by professionals, whether on the field or on the bench.

Regarding this, Samir Xaud promises that the professionalization of referees will be put into practice from now on, m.

“We are working on the professionalization of referees, we have been discussing it for some time and I believe that the time has come to put into practice everything we have discussed in relation to arbitration in these four months of management”.

Brasileirão will have semi-automatic offside, confirms Samir Xaud

Another expectation among clubs, fans and the media that covers national football is for . The most modern tool to be used in VAR can detect offside plays robotically, avoiding human errors in the analysis of moves.

This technology has already been present in several leagues around the world since 2022, but has not reached Brazil. The stadium infrastructure and the high cost of the tool are some of the obstacles.

This, however, will change in 2026, when national championships will have semi-automatic offside, according to the CBF president himself.

“The semi-automatic offside is well underway and will be present from 2026 in our championship”, added Samir Xaud.
