PS announces: “The news of our erosion was clearly exaggerated”

Coordinator points to a similar number of votes to 2021, continuing to be the party with the most Chambers and the most district capitals.

O PS predicted today that “with high probability” there will continue to be more cameras, with the “same number of votes” from 2021and said he expected “double the district capitals”, with Lisbon and Porto competing “taco for taco”.

“As news of the structural erosion of the Socialist Party’s electoral standpoint was clearly exaggerated”, said the PS’s local coordinator, André Rijo, in a statement to journalists at the PS headquarters, in Lisbon.

The socialist official stated that, “with high probability”, the PS “will be able to achieve, approximately, exactly the same number of votes that it had four years ago” and will also be able to “remain as the party that wins the most chamber presidencies in the country”.

“I would also like to say that it is now possible for us to reach a conclusion, which is the fact that the Socialist Party, also with a high probability, will conquer more district capitals, which means that we will practically, I would say, double district capitals that we currently have and, eventually, add yet another district capital”, he said.

Asked about the district capitals he expected to win, André Rijo said he was Faro, Coimbra, Braga, Viseu, Bragança, Évora and Aveirohoping to maintain the current five.

“Finally, saying that we are fighting, head to head, to be able to win,” he added.
