While husband and wife team Daniella Santoro and Aaron Lorenz were working in their garden last spring, they came across an object you wouldn’t expect behind a house in the historic Carrollton neighborhood of New Orleans. At first, the two of them thought the dirty stone slab with what appeared to be a Latin inscription was a tombstone, and they feared that the house was built on an old cemetery.
