Braided herb bread It looks beautiful on the table and impresses guests. Therefore, it may seem difficult to prepare, but don’t worry, all you need is a little patience and it will surely turn out perfectly. To prepare this delicacy you will need wheat flour, milk, butter and yeast. Garlic and Provençal herbs will also be useful, thanks to which the bake will turn out delicious and distinctive. This bread will be a hit at every party and family gathering.
Before you start baking, prepare the appropriate form. It will work well 25 cm long cake tin.
To prepare this recipe, you will need:
- 560 g of wheat flour,
- 2¼ teaspoons of dried yeast,
- 1 teaspoon of salt,
- 190 ml of lukewarm milk (35°C),
- 2 tablespoons of liquid honey,
- 3 eggs,
- 2 tablespoons of liquid butter,
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil,
- 2 tablespoons of Provençal herbs,
- 2-3 cloves of garlic.
Combine flour, dry yeast and salt in the mixer bowl. Mix. Add milk, honey and beaten eggs (at room temperature). Mix the ingredients with a hook attachment until you obtain a smooth, thick dough. At the end of mixing, pour the liquid butter into the dough in a thin stream.
Set the dough aside in a warm place (covered with a cloth) for about an hour. During this time, the dough should at least double its volume.
Combine olive oil with herbs and pressed garlic. Mix thoroughly. If you want, you can replace the dried herbs with fresh ones (e.g. chopped basil, oregano, thyme leaves). Then add 3 times more.
Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle. Brush it with herb-garlic olive oil over its entire surface. Roll the dough into a fairly tight roll along the long edge of the rectangle (secure the ends of the roll to prevent oil from leaking out). Cut the roll in half lengthwise, but do not cut it completely at one end. Roll the two halves of the dough into an “ear”. Place it in a cake tin (25 cm) lined with baking paper in the form of a double letter S (one above the other).
Leave the prepared dough for about 45 minutes to continue rising.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Place braided herb bread in it. Bake for about 30-35 minutes. Remove the baked bread from the oven immediately and set aside to cool.
