Ulisses Guimarães Foundation promotes new courses in Huni Kuin village in Acre

For the first time, the Ulysses Guimarães Foundation (FUG) took the training directly to Aldeia do Caucho, in Tarauacá, this past weekend, marking a historic moment for the indigenous community of the Huni Kuin ethnic group. The action, held last weekend, focused on political training, citizenship and community leadership, with the aim of strengthening social participation and valuing local culture.

The program included workshops, lectures and practical activities, whose contents were adapted to the reality of the Huni Kuin people, respecting their traditional knowledge and language. According to the president of the MDB in Acre, Vágner Sales, the initiative represents the construction of a bridge between technical knowledge and ancestral knowledge, promoting intercultural dialogue.

The community received the action with enthusiasm, highlighting its positive impact especially on youth. “It’s great to see that they are looking at us, bringing courses and talking about rights. We want to learn, but respecting our culture”, said one of the young participants.

According to the coordination of FUG in Acre, the initiative in Aldeia do Caucho is the first in a continued action plan. The foundation plans to extend similar activities to other villages in the region in the coming months, consolidating the training project aimed at the state’s indigenous peoples.
