Flamengo and Filipe Luís continue to seek an agreement to renew the coach. Negotiations took a new step during Data FIFA, but it is still far from an agreement.
According to “ge.globo”, the coach and his manager, Jorge Mendes, informed the club’s management of the desired values and terms for signing a new contract.
How are the conversations between Filipe Luís and Flamengo?
The coach had already received an initial proposal from the Rio club, which included a salary increase. However, the values offered were considered low compared to those of other Brasileirão coaches.
Rubro-Negro considered the figures high at first, but understands it to be something common in this type of negotiation. Fla intends to make a counter-proposal to try to reach a middle ground.
The two parties welcome renewal until the end of 2027 in the first meetings, but there is the possibility of an agreement for just one more year. Another pending issue concerns the value of the termination fine, mainly for abroad. The fine for this contract was around three months’ salary.
Businessman Jorge Mendes, who represents the coach, presented a counterproposal after meeting with executive director of football José Boto, in September this year.
Recently, Filipe Luís turned down a proposal from Fenerbahçe (Türkiye). The former full-back does not hide his desire to go to European football in the future, but he is focused on Rubro-Negro’s moment.
