Who are the 20 living hostages that Hamas will release?

The Palestinian Islamist group Hamas confirmed this Monday the list of the 20 hostages who are still alive and will be released in accordance with the ceasefire signed with Israel.

This is a group aged between 20 and 48 years, all of them men. This is the list of the hostages who will be released:

– Nimrod Cohen (20 years old): captured from a tank near the Gaza border. A released prisoner sent a message to his family telling them that he was fine, and in a video released by Hamas his relatives recognized his tattoo.

– Rom Braslavski (21): kidnapped while working as a security guard at the Supernova music festival during a break in his military service. His family received their first proof of life this past March through a former hostage who became friends with him. In August, Hamas released a video in which he appeared extremely thin and pale, with some wounds on his skin, watching images of malnourished children on television.

Matan Angrest (22): He was serving as a soldier on October 7, 2023, the day of the Hamas attack on Israel, and was captured from his burning tank in the Nahal Oz kibbutz (agrarian commune). Some freed hostages said he suffered serious injuries as a result of being shackled and beaten. Furthermore, at the end of September the Al Qasam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, asked the Israeli Army to stop its offensive in Gaza City, since Matan’s life was “in danger.”

– Bar Kupershtein (23): He worked at the Supernova festival, where he was captured. There was evidence of his life last February and April, through a freed hostage and a video.

– Evyatar David y Guy Gilboa-Dalal (24): These two best friends were kidnapped at the Supernova festival. Last February they appeared in a video published by Hamas in which they both witnessed the release of other hostages. And on September 5, when 700 days had passed since the offensive, Hamas published a new video in which the two friends were seen inside a car and claimed to be in Gaza City, where Israeli troops continued their offensive to take full control.

Yosef Haim Ohana (24): captured at that same festival. He is believed to have helped other assistants before being captured. His family said in February they had received a “clear indication” that he was still alive. In May he appeared alive alongside Elkana Bohbot in a Hamas propaganda video, in which he asked to stop the fighting and accused the Israeli Government of “having blood on its hands.”

– Alon Ohel (24): He was one of four Supernova attendees from the shelter where 16 other people were killed. The first proof of life came after other hostages were freed last February. Hamas published a video on September 22 in which Alon was seen saying that his death was “unavoidable.”

– Eitan Mor (25): taken hostage while working as a security guard at the Supernova festival. A friend kidnapped with him was found dead in Gaza, but a sign of life was received from Mor during the ceasefire earlier this year, according to the Jewish Telegraphic agency.

– Weapons (25): kidnapped from his home with his partner – released in November 2023 – in his home in Nir Oz. His mother was expelled from Israel’s Parliament when she advocated for his release. Last June, Hamas issued a statement warning that the Israeli Army would be responsible for his death if it tried to free him, after observing that troops had surrounded the place where he was detained.

– The twins Gali and Ziv Berman (27): kidnapped from their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza; According to authorities, they are being held separately. The family received proof of life from both during the ceasefire earlier this year.

– Segev Calfon (27): taken hostage at the festival. As reported by Jewish Telegraphic, his first proof of life came last February.

– Brothers Ariel (28) and David Cunio (35): The first was captured with his girlfriend in the Nir Oz kibbutz and the second in his house with his wife, his twin daughters, his sister-in-law and her daughters. All of them were released. Jewish Telegraphic includes them among the group of hostages who are still alive.

– Avinatan Or (32): boyfriend of Noa Argamani, who managed to be rescued in June 2024. Or was one of the first Israelis of whom images were released during his captivity, according to Jewish Telegraphic.

– Elkana Bohbot (36): kidnapped at the Supernova music festival and filmed being beaten before being taken to Gaza. In May he appeared alive alongside Yosef-Haim Ohana in a Hamas video, in which he appeared very weak. He asked his family through a freed hostage to keep the market stall where he plans to open an ice cream parlor as soon as he gets out.

– Maxim Hertic (37): captured in the Supernova. He had returned from visiting his native Ukraine a week before October 7. He was born in the Donbas region and has a daughter who lives in Russia. Last May he appeared in a Hamas video saying that he was injured when Israeli troops bombed the tunnel where he was detained.

– Etan Horn (38): kidnapped while visiting his older brother. In a video from the Islamist group he is seen pleading for an end to the war while his brother was being taken to be released this past February.

Omri Miran (48): the oldest of the hostages believed to be still alive. Captured in his vehicle, in front of his wife and children. The family received proof of life in separate videos published by Hamas in April 2024 and 2025, along with another signal last February. Furthermore, at the end of September the Al Qasam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, asked the Israeli Army to stop its offensive on Gaza City since Omri’s life was “in danger.”
