Ciudad del Este City Hall recovered more than R$27,000 for visitors who were victims of scams and undue charges in local businesses
More than R$27,000 was recovered by Ciudad del Este City Hall for tourists who fell for scams or were victims of undue charges in local businesses.
The action was carried out by the Consumer Protection Directorate after several visitors reported irregularities in purchases made in the city center.
Among the cases resolved is that of Cecilia Anabel Ríos, who received around R$8,000 back after paying extra for a cell phone. María Valeria Bordi was reimbursed R$5,000 after taking products different from those she had ordered.
Another tourist, Andrés José Garibotto, managed to cancel an irregular purchase of R$17,000 in electronic equipment, while María Guillermina Navatta recovered approximately R$8,000 in pesos and dollars for an online purchase that did not correspond to what was promised.
According to Ciudad del Este City Hall, all cases were resolved amicably, with the money returned to consumers.
The objective is to ensure that tourists are not left at a loss and to preserve the good reputation of commerce in Ciudad del Este, a popular destination among Brazilians and Argentines.
