Six-time Olympia champion in Classic Physique and recently retired from professional bodybuilding, Chris Bumstead paid tribute to his old rival Ramon Dino for the title he won this weekend.
“We stood side by side on that stage for years, pushing each other to be better, and seeing him fall to his knees as they called his name made me cry,” the former Canadian athlete wrote on his social media account.
In the early hours of last Sunday (12), the bodybuilder from Acre became the first Brazilian man in history to win the most important bodybuilding championship in the world.
“I would never have imagined, upon entering Olympia, that the highlight of my week would be seeing Ramon receive his flowers”, highlights the text released by the Brazilian’s former rival.
In the publication, Cbum also said he knows “what that moment is like and how much work it takes to achieve it.”
“He’s earned every inch of this. It’s given me a sense of peace and gratitude for the chapter I’ve lived and the closure I didn’t know I needed. You will be a great champion,” Bumstead concludes.
Dino shared the stage with Cbum on four occasions. In all of them, the Canadian came away with the title, while the Brazilian gained his place among the best in the world. On two occasions (2022 and 2023), both were separated from the rest of the athletes and the current Olympia champion finished runner-up.
