Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) countered the president of the PP, senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), for alleging that the parliamentarian’s actions in the United States caused “gigantic damage” to the “political project” of the right. The son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said that the “damage was gigantic to Nogueira’s personal plan” and that one cannot “confuse the interest” of the senator “with that of Brazil”.

“I sympathize with your feeling, as it was also a great loss for me, the difference is that I am willing to sacrifice my personal interests for Brazil”, wrote Eduardo in X.

Earlier, Nogueira stated that, before the actions in relation to the tariff imposed by , next year’s elections were “completely resolved”.

The senator considered that he would also not know what to do if his father was “being wronged”, but justified that Eduardo “created a false narrative” about the sanctions — which, in Nogueira’s view, were not even applied due to Bolsonaro’s trial, as Trump even stated. The statements were made in an interview with Band, released this Saturday.

“It was a mistake. I have already expressed it to interlocutors from the American government. Trump should have said who was really responsible for this situation, which was President Lula, for having attacked the dollar, for the Brics issue”, stated Nogueira. “It hurt us electorally,” he added.

The PP leader also stated that the entire situation involving the tariff, under the justification that it had been caused by Bolsonaro, made Lula “take advantage in a very blatant way” of issues such as the defense of sovereignty.

“Lula was very happy with this conflict to regain his popularity. I hope that now he has responsibility and carries out this negotiation as all countries in the world have done”, highlighted Nogueira. “I don’t condemn Eduardo (for his interactions with the USA), because I don’t know what I would do if my father was being wronged, but it was a huge loss for our political project.”
