The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, reported this Monday (13) that the highest governing body in world football has a plan for the reconstruction of football in Gaza and Palestine. For the leader, sport will play a fundamental role in uniting the local population and promoting hope for children amid the agreement for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
“Today was a historic day for peace in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Shaped by the leadership of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the unified stance of world leaders, it is a new dawn for the entire region and the entire world”, wrote the leader on the entity’s networks.
“Football’s role is to support, unite and give hope to the region. We will help rebuild all football facilities and bring the sport back to every corner of the country,” Infantino added.
The director explained that FIFA intends to rebuild fields, send instructors, organize competitions and launch a fund aimed at local football infrastructure. “We will take footballs, build pitches, bring instructors, help organize competitions and launch a fund to help rebuild football infrastructure in Palestine,” he said.

Today was a historic day for peace in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Shaped by the leadership of United States President Donald J. Trump and the unified stance of world leaders, it is a new dawn for the entire region and the entire world.
The role of football is to support, unite and give hope to the region. In Gaza and Palestine, we will help rebuild all football facilities. We will help bring football back – together with the Palestine Football Association – to every corner of the country.
We will bring footballs, build pitches, bring instructors, help organize competitions and launch a fund to help rebuild the football infrastructure in Palestine.
FIFA has contributed minicamps, through the FIFA Arena program, and we want the whole world to contribute, because football brings hope to children – that’s very, very important.
I thank the President of the USA for inviting me to this Peace Summit and I made it clear to all world leaders that FIFA is here to help, assist and make itself available for everything we can do to ensure that this peace process is implemented and reaches the best possible outcome.
