At least 64 people were killed and another 65 are missing because of the cataclysmians who hit many states last week in central and east, the government said today.
Most dead and greater damage are mainly recorded in the states of Verakruz, Idalgos and Puubla, said the head of the country’s Civil Protection Service Laura Velaskes.
The heavy rains were recorded between Monday and Thursday, causing “rising rivers and streams near these states” and leading to floods and disasters, Velaskes said during a press conference.
Regarding the missing, the largest number is recorded in the state of Idalgos, with 43 people missing, according to the official report.
In the mountainous area of Idalgos, many small communities remain excluded due to the closure of roads, with authorities using helicopters to meet the needs of residents.
