Representative Gilvan from Federal (PL-ES) tried to explain himself this Tuesday, at the Chamber’s Ethics Council, in the process that analyzes the revocation of his mandate for having used in plenary the nickname “Amante” — the same one that appears next to Gleisi Hoffmann’s name on the Odebrecht list — to call her a prostitute. Despite acknowledging the use of the nickname, he contradicted himself by denying his intention to offend her.
— I was suspended three times, as a precautionary measure, due to the security commission. Amante, firstly, is not a good qualification, but the people who put the nickname were the businessmen at Odebrecht. At no point did I refer to the deputy and today’s minister – he said.
The statement, however, contrasts with what he himself said in the session, when he said that the minister should not be offended by the nickname, as she had never publicly assumed the code name “Lover”.

In April of this year, Gilvan declared:
— At the time this ex-convict (the president) was arrested, I was in the Federal Police, and there were attacks on the PF by PT people. For example, from the then senator Gleisi Hoffmann. Today they praise the PF because we have a PT director general. At Odebrecht, there was a spreadsheet for paying bribes to politicians. I mentioned the name “Lindinho” and “Amante” here, who must have been a hell of a prostitute. There was even a deputy who rebelled. In other words, the hood worked — said the parliamentarian.
The case against Gilvan alleges a breach of decorum due to statements offensive to the PT member. His mandate was suspended, but now the council is analyzing a possible revocation. The expectation is that the opinion will be voted on by the end of the month. The deputy, linked to the Bolsonarist base, claims to be a victim of political persecution and maintains that his speeches are protected by parliamentary immunity.

The case of André Janones (Avante-MG), who faces suspicion of a split in the office, was postponed until next week, after the rapporteur, Gabriel Nunes (PSD-BA), missed the session.
Last week, the collegiate also postponed for another week the vote on the opinion that recommends the filing of the representation against Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP). The rapporteur, Delegate Marcelo Freitas (União-MG), rejected the PT’s complaint, which accuses the deputy of having exceeded the limits of his mandate by acting abroad in defense of measures “hostile to the Brazilian authorities”.
The three processes are part of the twenty representations currently being processed at the Ethics Council.
