Rodrigo Goulart, Municipal Secretary of Economic Development and Labor of São Paulo, who is at the fair for the third time, highlighted that São Paulo is already a capital with major world events and could not miss a technology fair of this size.
He mentioned that the city is already home to more than 3,000 startups and that the city hall has a program that accelerates these companies. “This year alone, we have already had more than 40 companies linked to technology open per day”, he highlighted, to reinforce the strength and economic power that the city is in the sector.
The secretary also listed, in addition to the average of 100 startups accelerated per year across the city, city hall programs in this regard, such as Vai Tec, Fashion Sampa and Sampa Games. The city is also expected to inaugurate the first games hub and the first public school in the sector this year, at the Secretariat headquarters.
Goulart also said that the prospect for São Paulo to host an edition of GITEX began more than two years ago and that discussions accelerated under Ricardo Nunes’ management, after a roadshow of the fair, which took place in the capital.
