Court intends to conclude the trial of 4 cores of the coup d’état complaint in 2025

The president of the 1st Panel of the (Supreme Federal Court), minister Flávio Dino, set this Monday (13.Oct.2025) the dates for the trial of nucleus 2 of the accusation of a coup d’état in the sessions on December 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th. As a result, the panel expects to conclude the trial of 4 centers in 2025.

The 6 members of the group were accused by the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) of coordinating the execution of the institutional rupture plan in favor of the former president (PL). The rapporteur of the case, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, declared, this Monday, the end of the investigation phase of the criminal action, with the delivery of the delayed final arguments of the defenses of Filipe Martins and Colonel Marcelo Costa Câmara.

Nucleus 5, made up only of political commentator and businessman Paulo Figueiredo, has not yet had its complaint assessed by the Court. Figueiredo lives in the United States and was also denounced, along with the federal deputy (PL), for trying to obstruct the trial of the former president, coordinating sanctions with the North American government against STF ministers.

In total, the Supreme Court accepted the PGR’s complaint against 31 defendants for the crimes of attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état, participation in an armed criminal organization, qualified damage and deterioration of listed property.

  • Marilia Ferreira de Alencardelegate of the PF (Federal Police) and director of Intelligence at the Ministry of Justice during the administration of Anderson Torres: in addition to having organized blitz with Vasques and Fernando de Sousa Oliveira, she would have coordinated “the use of police forces under the support and legitimate permanence of Jair Messias Bolsonaro in power”according to the complaint;
  • Fernando de Sousa OliveiraPF delegate and former assistant secretary of the DF Public Security Secretariat: he is accused of “omission” alongside former minister Anderson Torres during January 8th.

The 1st Panel only concluded the trial of nucleus 1, identified by the prosecution as “Núcleo Crucial” for the coup d’état. Former president Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years and 6 months in prison for leading the preparatory and executory acts to reverse the electoral defeat in 2022.

Core 4: October 14, 15, 21 and 22;

Core 3: November 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th;

Core 2: December 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th.

Bolsonaro sentenced

The 1st Class of STF (Supreme Federal Court) (PL) on September 11, 2025 for 5 crimes, including attempted coup d’état. They voted to convict the former president and the other 7 defendants: (rapporteur), , and (president of the 1st Panel).

Luiz Fux was. The minister voted to condemn only and for violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law. In the case of the other 6 defendants, the magistrate decided to acquit them.

Convicts from group 1 of the attempted coup d’état

The 8 form nucleus 1 of the coup attempt. They were for the of committing 5 crimes: armed criminal organization and attempts to violently abolish the Democratic Rule of Law and coup d’état, in addition to qualified damage and deterioration of listed property.
