An influencer was sentenced by the Paris Criminal Court to 12 months in prison, including six months in prison and six months suspended, following a series of prank videos he made for TikTok, in which pretended to stick strangers with syringes on the streets of the French capital.
The videos published on the Chinese social network showed Frenchman Ilan M. (known as ) wearing a mask and sneaking up on people to pretend he was injecting them with something with a syringe. The camera, operated by third parties, recorded the victims’ natural reactions of fear and panic.

The case generated great public outrage, as the pranks that the Frenchman took took place during a period of parties and events in France — in a single night they were recorded 145 suspected cases and 12 arrests.
Although the Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that Mojito did not administer any injection, given that the syringe was covered, the context worsened the perception of the crime.
