The São Paulo Court of Justice granted the request for an injunction made by and ordered X (formerly) to keep a record of the IP addresses used by IPs are a type of identity of the machines.
In the action, Sleeping Giants, which is notable for calling for the demonetization of companies accused of spreading disinformation, claims that fake profiles that improperly use the names of journalists and entities have made untrue complaints, especially against left-wing politicians and media outlets.
The entity defends that X maintains a record of these profiles, including for legal actions and compensation requests. One of the accounts, says the group, was suspended after more than 1,500 messages from one of this profile.
“X’s failure can also be analyzed according to the General Data Protection Law, due to unauthorized access, using profiles and data without users’ consent, as well as given the omission that allowed the improper use of data and accounts”, says Roberta Migueis, lawyer who represents Sleeping Giants Brasil in the action.
