The Dutch midfielder renewed his contract until June 2029, the Catalan club announced on its social networks this Wednesday (15). De Jong, 28, is “a fundamental piece in the sporting project, both for his quality and his experience,” Barça said in a statement.
After the renewal was announced, the player told the press that playing for Barcelona had always been his “childhood dream”. “I want to follow my dream for many more years and with the desire to win titles”, he stated.
De Jong has had ups and downs since arriving at the club in 2019, but became a fundamental part of the coach’s midfield last season, alongside Pedri. During his time, he was Spanish champion twice (2023 and 2025) and the Copa del Rey twice (2021 and 2025).
