Linz – Austria’s U21 national football team has suffered a bitter setback on the way to a ticket to the 2027 European Championship finals. Instead of achieving a mandatory win, the ÖFB selection lost for the first time on Tuesday in the third game of qualifying group I with a 0:2 (0:1) against Wales, who had previously had no points. Goals from Gabriele Biancheri (25th) after a bad pass from David Heindl and Christopher Popov (90th) caused the first defeat under team boss Peter Perchtold in Linz.
