A car bomb explosion in Guayaquil, Ecuador, left at least one person dead and more than 30 injured this Tuesday (14).
The incident occurred near the Mall del Sol, a busy shopping center in the city, and an office building linked to the family of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa.
The fatal victim was identified as a taxi driver who was in the region at the time of the explosion.

Security camera footage and witness recordings show the fire of a parked pickup truck, followed by the detonation.
The site, which houses hotels, restaurants and businesses, was quickly isolated by security forces.
The National Risk Management Secretariat confirmed the death and reported that 30 people were injured, two of whom were hospitalized.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the attack.
Fernando Cornejo, president of the municipal company Segura, stated that surveillance cameras identified two vehicles leaving Cooperativa San Francisco, a neighborhood close to the Guayaquil penitentiary complex, only one of which exploded.
The police are also investigating the possible presence of other vehicles with explosives in the region.
The governor of the province of Guayas, Humberto Plaza, classified the episode as a terrorist attack and ruled out the participation of indigenous groups, highlighting that the local indigenous population is small.
Plaza assured that security forces will intensify searches to capture those responsible and stated that the crime will not go unpunished.
