The MP (Public Ministry) filed a complaint against the former president of Corinthians, Andrés Sanchez, and the club’s current financial manager, Roberto Gavioli, for alleged misuse of the club’s corporate card in past administrations.
According to prosecutor Cássio Conserino, the accusations are for possible crimes of misappropriation, money laundering and false tax documents.
The MP’s investigation began in July 2025, based on complaints made by fans, based on credit card invoices published by the profile “@Prmalaoficial”, on the social network X.
In addition to expenses during the administration of Andrés Sanchez, the MP’s investigation also examines expenses with cards during the presidency of Duilio Monteiro Alves.
Based on the notes sent by the club itself, with expenses incurred between August 2018 and May 2025, the MP understood that the corporate cards were used by Andrés “as if they were private”, stated Conserino.
“There was an inversion of ownership, with numerous private purchases”, stated the promoter during an interview with journalists this Wednesday (15), in São Paulo.
Among the expenses incompatible with the position, the prosecutor cited notes from drugstores, laboratory clinics, duty-frees and watch stores. The R$15,000 bill at a restaurant in Fernando de Noronha was also highlighted.
“This money belongs to the sporting entity Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, and not to the one who currently holds the position of president,” said Conserino.
According to the prosecutor, irregular expenses total around R$480,000, in updated values. They would have been carried out between 2018 and 2020.
When contacted, Andrés Sanchez did not return until the publication of the report. At the end of July, when the MP’s investigation became public, the leader stated that he had made a mess with the cards.
“I have already been investigated by the Federal Police and the Public Ministry in every way, and they never found anything. I got the credit card mixed up and I will defend myself for the mistake,” he said at the time.
The prosecutor added that Gavioli, financial manager also during Andrés Sanchez’s management, had a “judicial duty to prevent” the misuse of the card, but did not act with due diligence.
“In the interrogation, he said that he had no supervisory duty. But he was the financial manager, he was paid for that”, stated the prosecutor.
Conserino added that the next step in the MP’s investigation will be to look into the expenses made during the administration of Duilio Monteiro Alves. An interrogation with the director’s former driver, Denílson Grilo, is scheduled to take place on October 23rd.
At the time of opening the investigation, Duilio said that he saw the initiative as “timely and healthy”.
“It is worth mentioning that I was the first to request access to the documents to provide clarifications, as well as for the necessary investigations and accountability. I entered with representations so that everything can be investigated both at the Corinthians Deliberative Council via official letter, and through the presentation of criminal news at the DRADE police station (Delegation for the Suppression of Offenses of Sports Intolerance)”, declared Duilio at the time.
