Minister said on Monday that the dismissal of nominees by deputies who voted against Provisional Measure 1303 is being done to ‘reorganize the base’
The Minister of Institutional Relations, said this Tuesday (14), that the former president of the Chamber of Deputies, deputy (PP-AL), approached her to say that he “is part of the base and wants to help” the government. Speaking to CNN, the minister denied that, during a meeting requested by Lira, he sought to keep his nominees in office. At the moment, the government is dismissing those appointed by the 251 deputies who voted against the alternative MP to the increase in the Tax on Financial Operations (IOF). Gleisi assured the deputy that the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Carlos Vieira, will be kept in his position. He was appointed in 2023, when Lira was president of the Chamber. “Lira did not come to negotiate with me on behalf of any party or group of parties. He came to talk about his situation in the government, to reaffirm that he is part of the base and that he wants to help, but he did not come to negotiate”, stated Gleisi.
To Estadão, the minister said on Monday, the 13th, that the dismissal of nominees by deputies who voted against Provisional Measure 1303 is being done to “reorganize the base”. “Those who voted against chose to leave the government. We want to know who we can count on, who is really with the government, and that applies to everyone. The cut is not partisan”, he declared. The movement takes place by order of the president (PT) and has the 2026 elections and the strengthening of his campaign on the horizon.
So far, several nominees from the PP, União Brasil, PSD, MDB and PL have lost positions for command positions in banks and state-owned companies such as Caixa Econômica Federal, Correios and the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (Iphan). Cuts were also made in regional superintendences in the Ministry of Agriculture, in the São Francisco and Parnaíba Valleys Development Company (Codevasf) and in the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit).
