The president of the Chamber, (-PB), was booed, this Wednesday (15), while participating in an event celebrating Teachers’ Day together with the president in .

The audience, including teachers, also shouted “no amnesty” as the president of the Chamber began to speak.

Faced with the public’s reaction, Lula stood up and stood next to the president of the Chamber, in an attempt to contain tempers. The President of the Republic has already adopted this stance of standing next to the speaker at events with opposing governors during the current term.

Hugo Motta was not announced by the event ceremony. He had the floor given by the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, to explain the votes linked to education held this year in the Chamber.

Camilo gave the floor to Hugo after finishing his speech and hearing an appeal from President Lula. Given this, the Minister of Education returned to the microphone and cited votes in Congress, then giving the floor to Hugo Motta.

“On this National Teacher’s Day, it is an honor to be here next to you, without a doubt, the president who has done the most for education in Brazil, is once again demonstrating this commitment”, said Motta, in praise of Lula, a week after new tension in the relationship between the Chamber and government with the overturn of the Provisional Measure alternative to the increase in the IOF.

At the end of the speech, the volume of boos was reduced with isolated shouts against the president of the Chamber. Hugo Motta was congratulated by ministers and deputies allied with Lula, such as the leader of the PT in the Chamber, Lindbergh Farias (RJ).

During the event, the government launched the national teaching card, which provides discounts and benefits to teachers. The document is valid for 10 years and is aimed at teachers at all levels and stages of education, in public and private networks. The request system will be open from this Thursday (16th), through the Mais Professores program page, with access via the gov.br account.

In addition to Camilo Santana, ministers Esther Dweck (Management and Innovation) and Anielle Franco (Racial Equality) were also present.

The mayor of Rio, (PSD), and the municipal secretary of Education, Renan Ferreirinha, were booed by the municipal teachers present at the event. Paes tried to placate the boos with the announcement of an annual adjustment and results agreement for the category.
