A PGR (Attorney General’s Office) spoke out this Tuesday (14) and ruled out asking for the preventive arrest of the federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) based on the request made by other parliamentarians.

According to the PGR, the body cannot evaluate the request for preventive detention with the parliamentarians’ request. The Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonetmaintains that the request could only be made by the Prosecutor’s Office itself or by the PF (Federal Police).

The PGR demonstration is made after order from the minister Alexandre de Moraesdo STF (Supreme Federal Court), leaders of their parties in the Chamber.

Parliamentarians also request the blocking of salary and compensation payments.

“Despite the diligence with which the parliamentarians who made the request for protocol act, their excellences are not qualified to do so in any of these positions, which deprives them of the procedural legitimacy to postulate the deed”, explains the Attorney General of the Republic.

Gonet, however, did not analyze the merits of the request. Eduardo Bolsonaro was reported to the Supreme Court by the PGR for coercion in legal proceedings, due to his activities in the United States.

“In any case, the Attorney General’s Office reserves the right to evaluate, at a time that it deems appropriate, any request for precautionary measures, including with regard to the aspect of their effective viability”, considered Paulo Gonet.

According to the PGR, procedures are already being processed in the Chamber of Deputies that evaluate the blocking of salaries and other payments to parliamentarians. The final decision on preventive detention rests with the reporting minister, Alexandre de Moraes.
