Students, all from the state public network, are now preparing to represent the State in the national stage of the competition, the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad (OBM)
The governor will participate this Wednesday (15), at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, in the award ceremony for the 225 gold medalist students of the Mathematics Olympiad of the State Schools of São Paulo (Omasp). The students, all from the state public school system, are now preparing to represent the State in the national stage of the competition, the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad (OBM).
Created by the State Department of Education (Seduc-SP), Omasp involved more than 2.5 million students across the State. The initiative is part of the São Paulo government’s strategy to enhance the teaching of Mathematics, with a focus on problem solving and logical reasoning.
The medalists went through three elimination phases and, as part of the award, will receive additional training with OBM experts to improve their knowledge and prepare for national challenges. “The Olympiad is a tool to identify talents and show that Mathematics can be inspiring”, highlighted the Secretary of Education, Renato Feder.
