Washington – The US Supreme Court has been dealing with a dispute over the design of electoral districts in the state of Louisiana since Wednesday. The outcome of the case could set the tone for future elections across the country. The process was triggered by the usual redesign of constituencies after each census. After the 2020 census, the Louisiana legislature passed a reform that left only one of the state’s six electoral districts with a black majority. However, people in Louisiana are one-third black.
