The city of São Paulo approved this Wednesday (15) a bill that adds the Bandeirantes highway. The proposal, authored by state deputy Capitão Telhada (PP), was forwarded to governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) for sanction.
The road, which connects the capital to the interior, would be called “Rodovia dos Bandeirantes – Governador Paulo Egydio Martins”.
In justifying the project, Telhada states that it was during the Martins government that the road was inaugurated, in addition to mentioning other projects under his management, such as the opening of one of the lanes of the Imigrantes highway. The former governor, who reached the elected position indirectly during the military dictatorship, died in 2021, at the age of 92.
Previously, he was also Minister of Industry and Commerce and Labor in the government of General Castelo Branco.
