High interrupts 3 months of decline in a row, according to IBC-Br (Central Bank Economic Activity Index); country grew 2.6% in 1 year
Considered the preview of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product), the IBC-Br (Economic Activity Index) of the rose 0.4% in August compared to July, in the seasonally adjusted series. The data interrupts a series of 3 consecutive monthly falls. The monetary authority released the report this Thursday (October 16, 2025).

According to the BC, the GDP preview rose 3.2% in 12 months and 2.6% in 1 year.
The industry increased by 0.8% in August compared to July. Agriculture fell 1.9%. The services sector rose 0.2% in August.

The IBC-Br measures the evolution of economic activity and assists the Central Bank in decisions about possible changes in the Selic, the basic interest rate. Considers information on the level of activity in industry, commerce and services, and agriculture, in addition to the volume of taxes.
However, the official indicator of the economy’s performance is GDP (Gross Domestic Product), calculated by (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), sum of everything the country produced in a given period. It is one of the most important indicators of an economy’s performance.
According to official IBGE data for the 2nd quarter of 2025, released on September 2, 2025, in relation to the 1st quarter of the year. In comparison with the 2nd quarter of 2024, GDP increased 2.2%, with growth in agriculture (10.1%), industry (1.1%) and services (2.0%).
