Germany and Ukraine will strengthen cooperation in the field of defense: They will focus mainly on air defense

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhaľ signed an agreement on strengthening cooperation in the field of defense on Wednesday. The document was signed on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of NATO member states in Brussels. TASR informs about it according to the report of the DPA agency.

The agreement should strengthen Ukraine’s defense and deterrence capabilities and at the same time allow Germany to use its innovative potential. According to the German minister, it should also deepen the cooperation between the two countries in the field of research and technological development. He stated this during the signing of the document at the NATO headquarters in Brussels.

The German minister expressed hope that the cooperation will bring a positive boost to the German defense industry in terms of innovation, capabilities and speed. As concrete projects, he mentioned joint activities in the field of air defense, simplification of work and study stays, and further cooperation in the field of training of the armed forces. He added that there are also plans to expand the exchange of information. Germany is one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine after the invasion of Russia in February 2022, DPA reminds.
