During an interview with On Scenefor a podcast to ContilNetthis Tuesday (15), governor Gladson Cameli reaffirmed his support for vice-governor Mailza Assis as a pre-candidate for the Government of Acre in 2026. The governor also declared that he intends to talk to the mayor of Rio Branco, Tião Bocalom, and with senator Alan Rick (Republicans) to try to build an alliance around the candidacy.

Gladson praised Mailza’s political trajectory and work, stating that she has the legitimacy to run for Government.
“How am I going to take away the right of this warrior, a woman, who represents me very well, who has been working together with me over the years? She already came from the Federal Senate, continued the work I was doing there in the Senate and now she has come to be my vice-governor. How am I going to take away her right to run for re-election? So there are things in our lives where there’s no point in wanting to stretch the rope.”
The governor highlighted that Mailza is the group’s pre-candidate and that he is not working with an alternative plan.

“Mailza is our pre-candidate today, yes. She will take over the government when I leave for the Senate, she will run for reelection and I have no doubt that she will be the candidate. That’s something that I don’t work with as a plan B, unless God doesn’t want it — and she.”
Asked about the right-wing political scenario in Acre, Gladson acknowledged that the conservative camp must have more than one candidate for government, but defended the importance of dialogue.
“There are things where I have my limit. And then, when it comes to Bocalom, we are a group. If you ask me today, dreams don’t pay taxes, but I’m a realist. The right will have other candidates, unless there is a broad composition, that there are really, in fact, feelings of resignation. The way things are shaping up, I believe that the right will have more than one candidate for government, I have no doubt about that. Bocalom is part of my political group.”

Gladson stated that he has tried to bring the group’s leaders closer together and maintain an open dialogue with all allies.
“I have tried to get everyone at the table so that we can have this broad debate. Senator Márcio Bittar himself has already stated that I am leading this process so that we can emerge calmly, united, and be successful in the 2026 elections.”
When asked if he intends to speak personally with Mayor Tião Bocalom to convince him to support Mailza, the governor said that dialogue is inevitable.
“There is no rupture. Bocalom is fundamental in this process. And it is natural that he wants to make his name available, as Nicolau also put it. These are situations that escape the governor when someone speaks out and has the desire to take a leap in their political career. This process is natural. What I want to tell you is that it is natural for Bocalom to put his name forward, but we are talking. I am talking to everyone. We are not behind a closed door to no one, including Senator Alan Rick. Let’s talk, let’s debate.”
Gladson reinforced that he also intends to talk to Senator Alan Rick and that he is open to building bridges within the political field he represents.

“I talk to whoever is necessary. I don’t have a problem with anyone, right? And I don’t like making monocratic decisions. If I’m part of a group, I have to listen to that group. I have to listen to our entire government team, all our supporters who are seeking to run for office. But there is a number: there is only one vacancy for governor, one for vice president, two for the Senate, eight for federal deputies and twenty-four for state deputies. That’s it.”
Finally, the governor reaffirmed that he does intend to talk to Tião Bocalom to try to convince him to support Mailza Assis’ candidacy.
“Let me be clearer: yes, I intend to, and I also respect his position of making his name available in the Rio Branco Palace dispute. But the time will come when someone will have to feel a sense of resignation. What will I do?”, he concluded.
