The president of the Chamber of Deputies (Republicans-PB) was booed when he began speaking at a federal government event, in . The public, made up of education professionals, also chanted “no amnesty”, in reference to the bill being processed in the House.
A few seconds after the booing began, the president (PT) stood up from his seat and remained next to Motta until the end of his speech. The two even smiled during the cries against amnesty.
The president of the Chamber did not touch on the topic of amnesty nor did he comment on the booing. In his speech, he cited the approval of the National Education System and the National Education Plan, the text of which arrived at the House this Tuesday (14). He also praised Lula, referring to him as “undoubtedly the president who did the most for education in Brazil”.
Motta has focused on basic education agendas after the wear and tear caused by episodes such as . On Tuesday, six proposals were approved, including the national salary floor for temporary professionals, “More Teachers”, which expands the presence of educators in the public network, and the improvement of the Legal Framework for Early Childhood.
At the event at Arena Carioca 2, in the Olympic Park, the Lula government announced the start of issuing the National Teaching Card, to identify teachers from all education systems in the country. Later, when speaking at the ceremony, the president criticized the National Congress, addressing Hugo Motta and stating that Congress “never had the low level it has now”. The president of the Chamber did not react.
“Hugo is president of this Congress and he knows that it has never had the low level of quality it has now. That extreme right that was elected in 2022 is the worst thing there is. We cannot have a president who denies that there was a , denies the vaccine, distributes medicine that is worthless, that has a Minister of Health who doesn’t understand anything about health”, said the president.
