The CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) approved this Thursday (16) the monitoring of the financial transactions of lawyer Eli Cohen, one of the first to investigate irregular discounts on social security benefits.
The movement was articulated by the federal government’s allies, who see it as an actor close to the opposition who would seek to direct the commission’s work. Cohen claims that he is the target of “character destruction” for exposing the irregularities.
The application was approved by 21 votes in favor and 10 against. Coaf (Financial Activities Control Council) will prepare a report on the lawyer’s transactions between 2015 and 2025 and provide the data to the collegiate.
The request was made by the coordinator of the government bench at the CPI, deputy (-RS). In the document, he mentioned news about Cohen having received guidance from members of the PL before his testimony, one of the commission’s first.
