The situation gained repercussion after journalist Alessandro Lo-Bianco showed the video on the RedeTV! program. According to him, the woman’s cell phone remained on the floor for around 15 minutes after the incident. In a conversation with Lo-Bianco, the spectator stated that she felt “attacked” by the actor’s attitude.
Advisory response
Mateus Solano’s advisor clarified that the public is instructed several times not to use their cell phones during the show. In a note sent to Fábia Oliveira’s column, the actor’s team stated:
“Mateus Solano has been performing his first monologue, O Figurante, all over the country for over a year. So far, there have been almost 200 performances watched by 100,000 spectators. Before the start of each session, the audience is warned four times to turn off their cell phones, which are very disruptive to those on stage and those around them; also, so that the theater experience, which takes place live, can be enjoyed to the fullest by everyone.”
The actor also explained that the moment shown in the video is part of the performance. “At this point in the show shown in the video, the person who takes the cell phone from the audience is Ivana, one of the characters played by Mateus, who moves around the theater and interacts with the audience throughout the performance. Finally, Mateus Solano offers to repair any damage he may have caused to the device.”
