An Australian racing driver is accused of one of his nurses in a bedroom of the legendary Formula 1 driver’s family mansion after a cocktail party held at the estate.
According to Swiss prosecutors, the driver, a close friend of Schumacher’s son Mick, allegedly sexually assaulted the nurse, aged in her 30s, in a bedroom of the home in the Glan region of Switzerland on November 23, 2019. Authorities say he raped her twice while she was unconscious.
The woman was part of the medical team providing ongoing care to the seven-time Formula One world champion, who has not been seen in public since a serious skiing accident in 2013.
The Schumacher family had no involvement in the case and is not listed in La Cote County District Attorney’s records.
The Australian claimed he had previously kissed the nurse at a club in Geneva before the night of the alleged rape, a claim she denies. On the night of the incident, the two met again in the mansion’s pool room.
As reported by , the nurse felt unwell after drinking vodka after finishing her shift, and was unable to stand up, causing her to collapse on the floor. A physical therapist and the defendant took her to a private room used by staff during night shifts, where they put her to bed “without undressing her.”
However, according to the indictment, the accused, who lived in an adjacent room, returned later and raped her twice while she was unconscious. The woman filed a lawsuit against him in January 2022.
The accused cooperated in the initial stages of the investigation and traveled from Australia to be questioned, according to Swiss newspaper 24 Heures. However, there are fears that the case may not go ahead as the man has not given any signs of life for months.
The mansion, which was built to the family’s specifications in 2007, is located in a secluded area, surrounded by dense forest and a custom-made fence, offering complete privacy.
