The opposition in the National Congress presented this Wednesday (15) two requests for impeachment against ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court). The first, signed by ten senators, calls for the removal of . The second, which has the signature of 90 federal deputies, is a new impeachment request against .
The decision to put the topics on the agenda was made by senator Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil), who has already received other similar requests and so far has not shown a willingness to move forward with the matter.
According to senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE), the impeachment against Dino is justified by “participation in political events, violation of freedom of expression, and extrapolation of competence in the [que afastou eficácia automática de leis estrangeiras no Brasil]”.
In relation to freedom of expression, Girão cites Dino’s decision, from November 2024, that they would contain homophobic, prejudiced and discriminatory content aimed at the LGBTQIA+ community.
A former Lula minister, Dino is also responsible for reporting on investigations related to parliamentary amendments.
Later, during the plenary session, Girão informed Alcolumbre about the impeachment request against Dino and demanded information about another request, made more than a year ago, in relation to Alexandre de Moraes.
In the new impeachment request against Alexandre de Moraes, presented this Wednesday, federal deputy Marcel van Hattem (Novo-RS) cited the information released on Friday (10) by the US government’s Department of Customs and Immigration that Filipe Martins did not enter the country at the end of 2022.
