The Attorney General of the Republic, , asked this Wednesday (15) the (Supreme Federal Court) to reopen the investigation into the alleged interference of the former president () in .
According to Gonet, the new front of the investigation will be the possible link between interference in the PF with the parallel Abin and the spread of systematic attacks on authorities.
“The demonstration is for the return of the files to the Federal Police so that the following steps can be carried out, without prejudice to others that the police authority deems necessary”, says Gonet.
The request to reopen the investigation will be analyzed by the minister, rapporteur of the case. In a previous statement, he suggested that the investigation be closed due to lack of evidence.
The investigation into Bolsonaro’s alleged interference in the Federal Police was opened in 2020. At the time, the then Minister of Justice, Sergio Moro, resigned and said that Bolsonaro tried to intervene politically in the PF, by changing directors and conducting investigations related to his family members.
Gonet says that, based on Moro’s testimony, Bolsonaro’s complaint was about the “lack of access to PF intelligence reports.”
“It is essential, therefore, to verify more thoroughly whether there was actually interference or attempted interference in the investigations highlighted in the dialogues and in the former Minister’s testimony, through the use of the State structure and the clandestine obtaining of sensitive data”, states the head of the PGR.
The Federal Police closed the investigation into Bolsonaro in 2020, after concluding that there was no evidence that the former president interfered in the corporation to protect allies and family members by changing command of the body.
In the report, the PF states that in two years of investigation “no consistent evidence” of Bolsonaro’s interference was found and that all “the witnesses interviewed were assertive in saying that they did not receive guidance or any request, even if veiled, to interfere or influence investigations”.
According to a report by delegate Leopoldo Soares Lacerda, Bolsonaro did not commit an act contrary to the law by asking Moro to change the corporation’s general director because it is up to the president to choose the ministerial team and also the heads linked to the ministries.
“There is information in the file that the relationship between the President of the Republic and the federal police chief Ramagem, appointed as top leader of the PF, began at the end of the presidential campaign for professional reasons and has been maintained that way,” said the police chief.
He also found no signs that the president acted with the aim of interfering in investigations of his interest or that of his children and political allies.
