The governor of São Paulo, inaugurates this Thursday (16) 42 new beds at the Instituto de Cardiologia Dante Pazzanese, a national reference in cardiology and a hospital 100% dedicated to the care of patients from the. The expansion includes 10 beds completely renovated and 32 new infirmary beds, strengthening care for patients with highly complex cardiovascular diseases.

The works received an investment of R$6.2 million from the Government of São Paulo, in addition to R$3.6 million allocated to the purchase of equipment, made possible by the Adib Jatene Foundation. “With this delivery, we are expanding access and ensuring greater quality in highly complex care for SUS patients”, highlighted Tarcísio.

Dante Pazzanese is one of the largest cardiology centers in the country, with an average of 900 monthly hospitalizations, 18 thousand outpatient consultations per month between medical and multidisciplinary care, and 12 thousand monthly imaging exams, such as CT scans, MRIs, echocardiograms, X-rays and nuclear medicine. The hospital also performs around 900 hemodynamic procedures per month, including more than 200 angioplasties and 360 heart surgeries.

Internationally recognized, Dante Pazzanese rose 18 positions in the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2026 ranking, published by the American magazine Newsweek. The institution went from 64th place in 2024 to 46th in cardiology, and advanced eight positions in cardiac surgery, consolidating itself among the best hospitals in the world in these specialties.

Upcoming works

The Institute continues in the process of modernization and expansion, with new works in progress that aim to expand assistance capacity and improve the technical and administrative infrastructure.

Among the projects underway are:

  • Implementation of a vascular ICU with 10 new beds;
  • Expansion of the outpatient clinic, with 10 new offices;
  • Expansion of outpatient pharmacy;
  • Adequacy of administrative areas, such as the Internal Regulation Center and the Quality Center.

The Emergency Room has also been undergoing renovation since August, with an estimated investment of R$10 million, to modernize the entire physical structure and care flows. The improvements include the readjustment of critical areas, such as stabilization and observation rooms, ensuring greater comfort and efficiency in patient care.
