President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) summoned the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, for a meeting this Friday (17), at Palácio do Planalto, after the chancellor’s meeting with the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, held on Thursday (16), in Washington. The meeting, according to the president’s agenda, is scheduled for 4 pm.
Vieira must report to Lula the main points of the conversation with Rubio, including the 15 minutes in which the two were alone at the White House, in addition to reviewing the negotiations regarding a possible meeting between Lula and the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Palácio do Planalto works with the date of October 26th, during the Asean Summit (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), in Malaysia, as the likely date for the meeting. Lula has already confirmed his presence at the event, but Trump’s participation is not yet guaranteed.
