Τραμπ και Πούτιν θα συναντηθούν στην Ουγγαρία – «Θα δούμε αν μπορούμε να δώσουμε τέλος στον πόλεμο της Ουκρανίας»

Just one day before the president of Ukraine, , crossed his threshold to meet with the president of the USA, , discussing, among other things, the issue of the purchase of Tomahawk missiles from Kiev, the Kremlin threw bridges to Washington, wanting to pre-empt the developments.

More specifically, on the initiative of the Russian side, there was a telephone conversation between the two leaders, which lasted more than an hour, in which it was even agreed to convene a meeting of high-ranking advisers next week, which will lead to a new direct meeting.

while during the telephone conversation, the two leaders discussed at length the trade between Russia and the United States after the end of the war in Ukraine, while they agreed that the negotiations at the highest level will begin led by the American Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The location of the initial meeting has not yet been determined.

The fear of the Kremlin

As everything shows, the Kremlin immediately mobilized and threw bridges to Washington, with the relations between the two sides having cooled down quite recently, it can change the military balance in the region.

As Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov said, Vladimir Putin warned Donald Trump that the supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would undermine the peace process and worsen US-Russia relations.

Ushakov also said that ahead of the new summit between the two presidents, there will be a phone call between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the coming days.

Trump’s “disappointment” with Russia

It was preceded by statements in recent days in which Trump said: “I’m very disappointed because Vladimir and I had a very good relationship, probably still do, but he really needs to settle this war. And you know they have long lines waiting for gas in Russia right now… And all of a sudden his economy is going to collapse.”

The American president in his statements had even referred to Ukrainian, reaffirming, among other things, that he is positive about giving Tomahawks to Ukraine.

The Russian side had tried to downplay the effectiveness of the Tomahawk by arguing that it does not change anything on a tactical level in the battlefields, but on the other hand everyone estimates that it will have an overall impact on the war since it gives “depth” to the Ukrainian targets that they did not have until now and for this reason it has also brought Russian threats to signal direct US involvement in the war in case of its implementation.

Nuclear threats

In September, Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, dismissed the Tomahawks as a threat to Russia, arguing that they could not “change the dynamics” of the war. But in his comments a few days ago, he noted that if the Tomahawks are launched against Russia, Moscow will not be able to know whether they are carrying nuclear warheads. “What should the Russian Federation think? How exactly should Russia react?” he asked.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev echoed Peskov’s comments. “How should Russia respond? Exactly!” Medvedev said on social media. “Delivering these missiles could end badly for everyone. And first of all – for Trump himself,” he wrote characteristically.
